Leslie, you are right; most window manufactures will offer a warranty on their windows. Here are a couple things you can do: check the windows again, sometimes the stamp is in the window or inside window frame and is extremely small. Plus, I would check multiple windows. You might be able to find manufacture name and date that windows were built. Second, if you bought the home new in 2002 than most home builders are pretty good and giving you paperwork on all components (furnace, roof, A/C, windows, etc.) of your home. I would go back again through all of your paperwork that the builder provided you at closing. Third, check with BIA in Central Ohio (614.891.0575). BIA might have info on builder or windows. There also might be a chance that Joshua had your home covered under a BIA home warranty. Lastly, BIA might be able to help you find other ways to resolve your window problem.
I hope this helps.
Good luck,

I am trying to find out who did the windows in a home built by Joshua Builders, Columbus , Ohio. The home was built in 2002 and the company has since gone under. However, if they used a reputable window company, it should still have a warranty. If anyone knows how I can find out any information, please let me know. There is no printing on the windows.

AJ, I'm really sorry about your home buying experience. I would recommend contacting a real estate attorney. An attorney might be able to find out if there are any pending class action lawsuits. Good luck. Take care, HomeBuyer Advocate Mike

We had our first new home built in 2002 by Joshua. For the 12-month "punch list" we had nearly three pages of problems to be corrected, most of which we are still suffering with after being totally ignored by Joshua and Eric Schottenstein. Problems included concrete block basement foundation buckling in the area of a steel I-beam support. No investigation;no correction. A large water intrusion along the front wall of the house. Joshua did tear out and replace some of the stucco that had deteriorated as a result, but that was it. After having family members complain of a musty odor in the front living room at the site of the water problem, I just finished tearing away the drywall on the exterior wall - insulation moist and black mold covering most of the plywood siding! Each corner of the house has a major crack over 1/4" wide and growing. Backfill along the foundation has settled, exposing nearly 12" of foundation wall insulation. Attic sweats in the winter because of a lack of air circulation, causing attic roof to gather moisure and drip on the ceilings, causing water stains. The main floor in living room above the basement moves like a trampoline when adult or child walks, causing our entertainment center along a wall to teater and look like it will fall over; sitting in an easy chair next to someone walking feels like you are on a trampoline. A lot of sawdust-like material keeps falling in the basement due the main floor movement. I could go on and on. I was so angry after seeing the mold inside the living room walls that I tried calling all of the numbers to reach Joshua (8/18/10) and ask what they would do to remedy major problems - all shut down. I just got on the internet to find out about Joshua and if it was still elsewhere in Ohio, when I came accross your site. Surely there has to be some recourse or some law to protect homeowners from fraudulet builders. Any lawyers interested in going after Eric? He should not be allowed to start another homebuilding company in Ohio or elsewhere.

Perhaps the state should require all home builders to contribute to some kind of warranty insurance fund before they can do business in Ohio. That won't prevent companies from going under, but might prevent them from reincorporating as a new company.

Jeff, thanks for your comments. I agree with your analysis. It seems very hard for a high end production home builder like Joshua Homes to just close up shop and open up under a new business name. It seems like public relations (PR) suicide. Buying a high end home is an expensive purchase that requires an outstanding product and a lot of great customer service.
Over the next year, we will be watching the change over from Joshua Homes to GreenStone homes.

I’m so sorry for your troubles with Joshua Homes.

Sad (or embarrassed) to say I was a Joshua Homes customer. It absolutely infuriates me that a company like this can shut down shop and re-open under a different name (GreenStone Homes - same models, neighborhoods, owner, etc) and get out of making good on their commitments to the customers they built homes for under the Joshua Homes name. There are neighbors of mine, as well as myself, that have been fighting Eric Schottenstein and Joshua Homes in and out of court for multiple years trying to get resolution on warranty issues and other building related issues - and now likely have little to no recourse to pursue.
I guess this should serve as a warning to all: GreenStone Homes = Joshua Homes and clearly is buyer beware.
